# Screen Address

> Screen a crypto address against the OFAC sanctions lists

## Overview

Screens a cryptocurrency address against the US OFAC sanctions lists and returns every active list entry that matches, with the sanctioned party's name, type and sanctions programs.

>
> Lists are refreshed hourly from OFAC's publication stream, so a new designation appears within an hour of publication. Delisted addresses are never reported as sanctioned.

Any digital-currency address OFAC publishes is accepted: Ethereum and other EVM chains (`0x...`), Bitcoin, Litecoin, Monero, Tron, XRP and more. ENS names are resolved to their Ethereum address first. Matching is exact on the address value, ignoring case.

## Path Parameters

**address** `string` *required*

The address to screen, or an ENS name

## Response

**address** `string`

The address that was screened, as provided

**sanctioned** `boolean`

`true` if the address appears on any checked list

**lists\_checked** `array`

`ofac_sdn` (Specially Designated Nationals) and `ofac_consolidated` (non-SDN consolidated sanctions)

**matches** `array`

One entry per active list row: `source`, `entity_name`, `entity_type`, `programs`, `symbol`, `currency_name`, `address` (as published), `source_url` (deep link to the OFAC entry) and `listed_at`
